Are you wanting support for your filmmaking career? The Film Commission has a number of initiatives to develop the careers of filmmakers, including those in their early stages.

Funds in this funding programme

  • Industry Development Funding

    Talent Development, Te Rautaki Māori, Industry Support

    The 2024/25 Industry Development Fund combines the previous Strategic training Fund and the NZFC administered On-the-Job Development programme for internships, mentorships, attachments and professional placements.

    The Talent Development Fund supports filmmakers to develop their career. We can fund individuals and businesses who wish to develop their talent.  

  • Whakawhanake Te Ao Niko - Interactive Development Fund

    Project Development Funding, Funding the future - Interactive and Virtual Reality, Talent Development

    The Whakawhanake Te Ao Niko-Interactive Development Fund enables the development of interactive content with significant New Zealand creative and cultural outcomes.

  • Te Aupounamu Māori Screen Excellence Award

    Ko te Tohu Kairangi Kiriata Māori (Te Aupounamu), he wāhanga o te Rautaki Māori o Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga.

  • On-the-Job Development

  • Annual Gender Scholarship

    The New Zealand Film Commission is excited to be working with Ainsley Gardiner and Desray Armstrong as patrons of this year’s NZFC Gender Scholarship which has a focus on wāhine Māori looking to produce drama.
