The consensus among the New Zealand team was that this year’s AFCI Locations Expo, held at Disney Studios, was the best yet. For the first time the show was linked in with the (PGA) Producers Guild of America ‘Produced by Conference’ which may for some great connections. The Air New Zealand/Heritage Hotels competition to win a trip to New Zealand meant that the New Zealand stand was a real focal point.

New Zealand animation company signs multi-million dollar production deal with US studio
New Zealand animation company Huhu Studios has signed a multi-million dollar production deal with a leading American studio which produces children’s and family programming.
The US Studio, Big Idea Entertainment’s best-selling animated series VeggieTales is the top home video animated series in the US with mums of pre-schoolers. Since 1993, VeggieTales has sold more than 54 million videos, 13 million books and more than 7 million CDs.

NZ Short Films Finalists For VES Awards
Auckland's Media Design School is leading the student section at the VES (Visual Effects Society) Awards in Los Angeles this year - considered the 'Oscars' of the visual effects world.
Two films animated by advanced 3D students at the school, Das Tub and Time For Change, have been selected as two of four finalists in the category Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project. Avatar took out the most awards at the 2010 VES Awards, nabbing six wins including Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Motion Picture.
