The Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand (SDGNZ) has invited New Zealand director Jason Stutter to bring his feature film Predicament to Hollywood for a ‘Director’s Finder’ screening. This is a partnership between SDGNZ and the Directors Guild of America (DGA) through their joint membership in IAESDO - the International Association of English Speaking Directors Organisations. More

New Zealand shows its commitment to the film industry
Film New Zealand says the whole country has clearly shown its commitment to the international film industry by easing the way for blockbuster projects like The Hobbit to be filmed here. Chief Executive Gisella Carr says with the industrial issues settled, New Zealand has reinforced its place as a straightforward and great place to film and, remarkably given New Zealand’s size, a country where the most ambitious blockbuster films in the world can be safely made.

Green light for The Hobbit
New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. and MGM have announced that the two films based on “The Hobbit” are now greenlit and will begin principal photography in February 2011, under the direction of Peter Jackson. Read on for the full press release. More

Congratulations to New Zealand agencies and production companies who won Cannes Lions 2010 awards
New Zealand had its best year ever at the Cannes Lions, picking up 25 Lions in total (compared to 23 in 2008, the previous best year) , including a Grand Prix and 7 Gold Lions.
The awards included a Grand Prix for Special Group’s “Orcon + Iggy Pop" campaign on behalf of Orcon Broadband and 7 Gold Lions. More
